SEARCH TERMS: Disaster Related Shelter Services
Responsible for the coordination of emergency management activities including planning, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation; and which serve as the central point of contact for receiving reports of incidents that occur within their jurisdiction and for disseminating emergency-related information. Also coordinates local mass care shelters (schools and churches). In addition, offers first aid training for first responders and the general public.

Coordinates local "White Flag" day and overnight shelters for individuals in need of relief when the summer temperature or heat index is 95 degrees or higher, when Louisville is under an Ozone Alert, or when winter temperatures or wind chill is 35° or lower. Does NOT provide shelter, just coordination of participating shelters.
